FG Says Secondary School in the Country Should Reopen

The Federal Ministry of Education has issued a new date for schools to reopen in Nigeria.

Secondary schools in the country are to reopen as from the 4th of August, 2020.

In a press release signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Ben Bem Goong, on Monday, July 27th, 2020, only exits classes are required to open.

According to the statement, the decision was reached in a virtual consultative meeting today between the Federal Ministry of Education, Honorable Commissioner of Education of the 36 states, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, the proprietors of private schools and the Chief Executive of examination bodies.

It was agreed that the exit classes should resume immediately after the Sallah break, from the 4th of August, 2020 to “enable them prepare for the WAEC examinations scheduled to commence on the 17th of August, 2020.”

Students will have two weeks within to prepare for the forthcoming certificate examinations.
