Obaseki Resigns from APC after Meeting with Buhari

Edo State Governor, H. E. Godwin Obaseki who was disqualified by the APC screening committee on Friday on the ground of defective NYSC certificate has announced his resignation from the party.

His resignation comes after his visit to the President of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari on Monday.

Recall that on Sunday, Gov. Obaseki informed his supporters that he was going to visit President Buhari concerning his “unjust disqualification” after telling his party members to keep calm.

However, it turned out that the visit to the president Chief of Staff was a wasted effort leading to his quick resignation as APC party member.

Obaseki announced his resignation on Tuesday, June 16, in his verified Twitter handle.

He said, “I have officially resigned my membership of the All Progressives Congress after meeting with the COS of President Mohammadu Buhari.

“We shall continue the battle to protect the interest of Edo people and sustain good governance in the state.”
