Oyo Begins the TOT; Prepares Teachers for School

Oyo State Government commences training of stakeholders despite Federal Government disapproval. Commences own your action campaign.

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has announced the commencement of the Training of Trainers (TOT), a training session that is expected to equip over 300 stakeholders in the public education sector.

Governor Makinde disclosed in Twitter today, June 23, in a thread after his Covid19 update of which he announced that a total of seventy six suspected cases were confirmed positive.

According to him, the Training of Trainers plans to ensure a safe learning environments as the state prepares for the phased reopening of schools.

He said, “We commenced the Training of Trainers (ToT) of over 300 stakeholders in the public education sector to ensure safe learning environments as we prepare for the phased reopening of schools. The training of stakeholders in the private education sector will hold today.”

This comes as a shock to some as the Federal Government through the Ministry of State for Education had expressed its disapproval on Monday, June 22, over Makinde’s decision to reopen schools.

Also Governor Makinde announced that a new campaign known as “OwnYourAction” campaign has equally commenced.

He said that this campaign is “designed to communicate the need to break COVID-19 transmission at the grassroots level” by holding “every individual accountable for his/her health and that of those in their community”.
