Ghananians have reacted to the art work published by the National Communication Director of the opposition party, NDC in Ghana.
This occurred after the former president John Dramani Mahama addressed the racial killing of George Floyd in America on Tuesday.
The former president who is also campaigning for reelection in 2020 had condemned the act and likened it to present day Ghana.
He said: “This new awakening also applies to unwarranted use of violence against civilians here at home (Ghana); and to our own prejudicial treatment of some Ghanaians and the socially disadvantaged.”
Many responded to the address calling him hypocrite who seemed to understand what is happening abroad but has no idea about what his own party is doing in the country.
They condemned him for not reviewing the cartoon his National Communication Director, Sammy Gyamfi posted in Twitter which to them represented Mahama’s party.
However, Sammy Gyamfi has defended the purpose of the cartoon in his Facebook page.

Mr Gyamfi said that his intention was not to ‘mock the painful xenophobic murder of George Floyd’ or seek to explore same for political capital as some has claimed or misconstrued it to be.
He claimed the purpose was to make Ghanaians see the similarity between present Ghana and the racial murder in America.
According to him, the Jean Mensah-led Electoral Commission is seeking to disenfranchise millions of eligible votes through a xenophobic voter register.
Gyamfi said: “Nothing is wrong with sharing a cartoon which draws a parallel between the painful xenophobic murder and the evil attempt by the GH EC to disenfranchise millions of eligible voters through a xenophobic register.”
The cartoon was a complement to his response to President Nana Akufo- Addo’s 10th address to the nation.
In the address President Akufo-Addo explained that the Electoral Commission and the National Identification Authority (NIA) were exempted from the bank on public gathering.
While insisting on a ban on political rallies, the President also said churches and schools can reopen but with limited attendance and restrictions.
Unimpressed with the latest development, Mr. Gyamfi insists the easing of these restrictions is only a ruse to the President’s main agenda.
Saying it made little or no sense why churches and mosques were supposed to have not more than 100 people and must last for one hour when the “NIA and the EC were given freedom to register an unlimited number of people from 7am to 5pm.
Also he insisted that this decision was mainly to pave way for the Jean Mensah-led EC to carry out its rigging agenda, through the execution of their needless and wasteful new voter registration agenda.
