On Wednesday, 22 April, the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje lifted the ongoing lockdown temporary in the state amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.
According to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasir Gawuna, the relaxation of the lockdown became necessary so as to “allow people prepare adequately for the forthcoming Ramadan.”
The lockdown has been relaxed for a day and will commence on Thursday 23rd April, from 6 am to 22 midnight. The lockdown would continue afterwards for another 7 days.
The state however, has high confirmed cases of Coronavirus as 23 new cases were confirmed on April, 20 and 24 new cases on April 21. Currently, there are 73 people infected with the virus in the state.
