The Governor of Kano State Dr. Umar Gandeju has set out to regulate the price of essential goods in this period of Ramadan.
Gandeju announced today Wednesday May, 6th, that agreement has been reached between the Public Complaints Commission and the Marketers in Kano.
‘Good news my wonderful people of Kano, an agreement has been reached between the Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission, PCACC, and the marketers of Kano Singer Market to curtail the hoarding and price hikes of essential goods.’ he said.
Recall that on April 30, the Governor had a meeting with market leaders in the state to discuss measures that will be taken to prevent the hike in price during the Ramadan season. He also promised to relate the complaints of the people to Business Man, Aliko Dangote.
According to the governor, a bag of Sugar will be sold at the price of 16,000 and all other commodities will go back to their normal price with the exception of Rice which they claimed is out of stock for now.
‘A meeting with the state’s rice manufacturers is currently being arranged as we go all out to fight any instance of hoarding during these testing times.’
Gandeju added,’We cannot battle the pandemic and internal scuffles like price hikes and it’s wonderful that common ground has been reached.’
