The death of George Floyd, a black man killed by a police in Minnesota, sparked protest around the world. Blacks all over America are fighting for system restructure. A system many has defined as one designed by white racists, and for white racists. It is against this backdrop that Krista Vernoff support the campaign to defund the police.
Vernoff joins a host of other celebrities such as TI, Keke Palmer, Beyonce, Megan Markle, Tailor Swift, etc. to demand for a change system following the deaths of many Blacks after George Floyd.
She wrote on her verified Twitter handle Monday, asking the Whites to think about all the crimes (or mistakes as they chose to call them) they have committed and were allowed to live.
She said the system that lets her live and murders Rayshard Brooks is a broken system that must change.
As to what “Defunding the Police” means, she clarified the misconception of what some none supporters have about it.
Vernoff said that “defunding the police is not about ‘living in a lawless society.’ It’s about the fact that in this country, we’re not supposed to get shot by police for getting drunk.”

She recalled how she got away after committing so many crimes when she was younger. She was never handcuffed.
Once she was arrested for shoplifting, she was placed on six months probation and was required to see a parole officer. But she was not shot despite the fact she had tried to escape.
“When I was 18, I was pulled over for drunk driving,” she recalled. “When the Police Officer asked me to blow into the breathalyzer, I pretended to have asthma and insisted I couldn’t blow hard enough to get a reading.
“The officer laughed then asked my friends to blow and when one of them came up sober enough to drive, he let me move to the passenger seat of my car and go home with just a verbal warning.”
Vernoff went on to narrate how she punched a guy on his nose few meters away from the police and was never arrested although the guy pressed charges.
Despite being chased by the cops between the age of 11 and 22 for getting drunk and doing drugs illegally in private property and in public places, she has no criminal record.
Narrating her personal experience on white privilege, Krista Vernoff is appealing to other white privilege Americans to see reasons why they need to demand for a change.
