An initial batch of 210 Almajiri who had been quarantined at the Hajj Camp in Mando are due for relocation to their LGAs and reunification with their families.
Human Services & Social Development Kaduna reported on Sunday May 10th, 2020 that the almajiri are expected to be returned to school and continue their Qur’anic studies in their LGAs.
Commissioner Haj. Hafsat Baba in sending them off restated the commitment of Kaduna State Government to their education.
She promised that while the current Tsangaya system is to be abolished, the children can and will continue with their Qur’anic studies.
In addition, Mal. Musa Adamu, Perm. Sec. reiterated that the commitment of Local Government Councils to the whole process is sure.

He assured that the monitoring required will be done. The PS stated that the LGAs will enlist the parents’ support to end the Almajiri system as it were.
Also Haj. Baba handed over a memorandum of commitment to be resident with the LGAs and signed by the Almajiri’ parents to the PS.
The letter contains a commitment by the parents to the education and welfare of their wards and to not sending them out of their homes under any pretext.
Muhammad Mahmud Aliyu, Chairman of Soba LGA & State Chairman of ALGON, aligned himself & Chairmen of other LGAs to the commitments stated in the memorandum.
Aliyu gave the assurance that these repatriated almajiri will be put on a path favourable to their Qur’anic & Western educational endeavours.
Before their departure, the children wore on their shirts the inscription,“I AM THE FUTURE”.
According to Human Service and Social Development, the motive behind the shirts is to ensure that the children are prepared for the future that they face.
