Makinde States Foods Required to Prevent Covid-19

The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has announced that the state will issue an advisory concerning the recommended foods used as preventive measures for Covid-19.

This was stated at a press briefing held at the state secretariat on Monday, May 18, 2020. Also Read: Eight Others from Same Organization Test Positive for Covid-19- Makinde

Makinde said, ‘We will issue an advisory based on the advice given by Professor E. Olatunde Farombi, a Professor of Biochemistry and Fellow, Nigeria Academy of Science.

‘This is on foods and natural products useful as preventive measures against COVID-19 and other viral illnesses.

‘For instance, we have bitter kola, turmeric, zinc, ginger, garlic, citrus fruits and bitter leaf.’

However, Makinde emphasized that these products were not to be used as treatment for Coronavirus.

‘Let me emphasise that this advisory is not for the treatment or cure of COVID-19, it is preventive.’
