The World Health Representative to Uganda, Mr. Yonas Tegegn Woldemariam has openly debunked the rumour circulating that he was tested positive for Covid19 and is currently in an isolation center.
Mr Woldemariam who is currently working round the clock with the Uganda Ministry of Health to contain the spread of the virus said the news circulating Social Media was false.
He wrote on his official Twitter page, Wednesday, “I’d like to clarify a few false rumors about me being admitted after allegedly testing positive for COVID19.”
He acknowledged that he did took the test for Covid19, but the result returned negative.
“I did test and my results returned negative.”
Also he used the opportunity to advice the public to discontinue spreading false information and to avoid stigmatizing Covid19 patients.
“However, I’d like to call upon all of us to avoid spreading false information and avoid stigma due to COVID19.”
“Friends and colleagues,” he added. “Contrary to the rumors going around on social media, I am NOT admitted to hospital for covid I have tested negative for COVID-19.

However, the Uganda Ministry of Health have announced that a total of 41 patients who were positive for COVID-19 have recovered, tested negative twice for COVID-19 after treatment.
They were discharged from Gulu and Arua Regional Referral Hospitals today. The discharge was overseen by Hon. Moriku Joyce.
Total COVID-19 recoveries are now 161 in Uganda.
