This decision was reached in the Covid- 19 task force meeting earlier today. According to him, adequate measures have been put in place to control the spread of the virus which include:
1.New security measures in place including having only one gate to serve as entrance and exit. All other gates will be closed.
2. All meetings will be held online.
3. No visitors are allowed except absolutely necessary.
4.There will be hand washing facilities in strategic locations around the secretariat.
5. One 100 ml hand sanitizer & face mask will be given to each officer.
6. Bush canteens around the secretariat will remain closed. Officers are encouraged to bring their own food for lunch.
The curfew in the state has also been relaxed from 7 pm- 6 am to 7 pm- 5 am to enable farmers farm this season.
Makinde also said, “Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria is decentralizing the accreditation of isolation/treatment centres to state level so that it can be quicker and more efficient.”
Also, the CMD of UCH Ibadan and his team would support the decision by working with Oyo State Commisioner for Health, Dr. Bva Bello to set up a five- person accreditation team.
On the palliatives the government promised the poorest of the poor in the state which amounted to 90,000 households and 30,000 vulnerable households, he said were “now ready and would be distributed next week.”
In addition, one million face masks would be distributed tomorrow to kick off the policy ‘wear face masks in public places’. He added that the Agbami Chest Center in Jericho, Ibadan would be upgraded as patients would be transferred to the Infectious Disease Center in Olodo.
The governor concluded his speech by advising citizens to comply with the guidelines stipulated by the state Covid- 19 Task Force.
